Matt + Carrie | Virginia Wedding Photography

Matt and Carrie’s wedding day was one of the most relaxed I have ever experienced. There was definitely excitement and a few (happy) tears but everything came together perfectly and on time, the weather was gorgeous and there was no shortage of laughter and good times. Carrie looked absolutely stunning and the bridesmaids all looked perfect in sparkly champagne dresses that they had each chosen. Matt and his groomsmen looked handsome in gray suits and striped ties and the beautiful flowers in subtle shades of cream and purple pulled it all together. Iconic Prince Street in Old Town and The Carlyle Club provided classy backdrops for photos followed by a delicious dinner and dancing (to a live band no less!). The toasts from Carrie’s dad and sister and Matt’s brother were so genuine and meaningful.

The uniting of two families who have known each other for over 20 years is something very special and unique. One of the highlights for everyone I think was a photo of Matt and Carrie at their communion confirmation standing right next to each other when they were probably 6 or 7 years old. We were able to recreate it on the same steps outside the church. Who knew then that years later they would be standing next to each other as best friends, saying their vows of love and commitment at the same church with some of the same friends and families surrounding them. Wow! Such a beautiful moment. I was so honored to be a part of Matt and Carrie’s wonderful wedding and to witness the joining of these two lovely families. Thank you to all the awesome vendors who helped to make this day such a beautiful success! It was a privilege to work with all of them.

Here’s to the next adventure in the Cowan family! #CowangetsCarried

Chris + Caitlin | Frederick Engagement Photography

It was a joy to meet Chris and Caiti at their engagement session in Baker Park and historic downtown Frederick. Sometimes the engagement session is the first time I have met a couple in person and it’s a great opportunity for us to get to know each other and work together before the wedding. I found Chris and Cait to be super easy to be around, very relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. Like many couples these days, Chris and Caiti met online and quickly hit it off. They joked that Chris wasn’t quite truthful when he listed his height as 5’10” on his profile (he’s really just under) which was Caiti’s minimum (since she is 5’9″). But his charm worked and Cait was more than willing to overlook the slight discrepancy. It didn’t take long for them to fall for each other.  These two are so cute together – she’s an elementary school teacher and he’s an up an coming lawyer- young and in love and full of dreams for their future….I loved soaking up some of that vibe. I can’t wait for their wedding in July!

Matt and Carrie have know each other for a long time….so long that they can’t really remember the first time they met.  They’ve been together as a couple for 9 years and now they are less than a month away from finally getting married. As Carrie said – the best thing about being engaged is “getting more and more excited to marry my best friend every day!”. For our photo shoot they were so comfortable and natural – they made my job so easy. You can tell they belong together….and even though they have been together forever, it is clear that they are head over heels in love.  I was so excited to meet them and get to know them a little bit and can’t wait to celebrate with them next month!

Jon + Ana | Engaged | Maryland Wedding Photography

Jon couldn’t keep his eyes of Ana during their engagement session. It’s not hard to see why. She is beautiful, joyful and spunky. Perfect for him! They got engaged on Christmas Eve and their wedding is March 11 – these lovebirds aren’t wasting any time in starting the rest of their lives together. Jon has been working hard to learn Spanish, dance the Salsa and to appreciate the more laid back Latin culture (like dinner might be at 8 pm instead of 5:30). Ana never though she’d marry a white guy, but it turns out that Jon is everything she’s dreamed of. They work hard at their relationship and take seriously the commitment they are about to make despite coming from very different backgrounds. God has brought them together and it is a beautiful testimony. I am so excited to be part of their big day and can’t wait to celebrate with them!

Jason + Grace | Engaged | Maryland Wedding Photography

Jason and Grace met online, and after a month of Skyping they met in person for their first date last December. There Jason asked Grace to be his girlfriend during a sunset picnic in the back of his pick-up truck. They ended the magical evening by looking at Christmas lights. Sounds pretty romantic, right?! Less than a year later they got engaged and now they can’t wait to be married in a few months.

I met Grace and Jason for the first time at their engagement session. Jason is from Tennessee and Grace was living in Virginia where she worked as a post-partum nurse, but they were in Frederick, MD for the weekend to visit family and nail down some wedding plans. I knew I was in for a treat when, before we started off, Jason asked if he could take a moment to pray for our time. That was a first for me and I loved it! So very thoughtful and what better way to start a photo session than that. With that I caught a glimpse of the kind of guy he is…Grace, I think you picked a winner! She clearly agrees. 🙂

We had a great time. The weather for late January was pretty perfect and while they protested that they were not natural in front of a camera, they fell into it like old pros. I felt like I was hanging out with old friends. As the sun fell and the light turned golden we got some beautiful shots that capture their personality together. They are such a sweet, fun-loving couple and I can’t wait for their wedding this summer!
