Kevin + Theresa | Virginia Wedding Photography

Kevin and Theresa chose  the perfect day and venue for their outdoor ceremony in early September. The weather was absolutely gorgeous – a mild, late summer day. Roses and flowers were still blooming all over the gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley where the ceremony was held beneath an arbor hung with an incredible arrangement by Carper’s Florist.  Live violin music drifted among the sculptures and wildflowers as butterflies landed on the aisle arrangements. It was so dreamy! The ceremony program was a “newspaper” that included the story of how Kevin and Theresa met, fun facts, a word search, crossword puzzle and adorable ads. Kevin works in newspaper publication so it was such a cute and fitting idea. Oh and let’s not overlook how stunning Theresa looked and that veil….

After a sweet ceremony performed by Kevin’s uncle, we took photos in the gardens before heading to downtown Westminster where Kevin and Theresa first met for some very cute photos with the bridal party outside the restaurant where it all began. Our stop included a quick toast inside at the bar that had the whole restaurant watching and smiling. We then headed to the gorgeous George Washington Grand Hotel for an elegant and classy reception complete with dinner, dancing and a surprise Mashed Potato Bar gifted from Theresa to Kevin. Who knew there was such a thing?! So much joy and love; so many lovely details; so many dreams come true…it was such an honor to witness and be a part. Theresa told me later that everything came together just as she had imagined. It’s not hard to see why!

Thank you Kevin and Theresa for allowing me to be part of this wonderful memory. It was truly a privilege and I wish you both all the happiness in the world in your life together. XO

Tyson + Haley | Virginia Wedding Photography

One thing I love about my job is that in the process of getting to know a couple, I gain friends!  Awesome couples typically come from awesome families and  usually have fabulous friends….so in the end it’s a win-win. Tyson and Haley were no exception. They made me feel like part of the family and so comfortable. Haley was the sweetest, happiest bride (and so gorgeous). I loved how throughout the day she was truly in the moment…delighting in every detail. Of course every bride is happy on her wedding day but Haley was absolutely glowing with happiness through laughter AND tears. So sweet. Tyson and his guys are a bunch of goofballs and definitely added their own flavor to the day. The kids were so adorable and Tyson’s daughter Shelbie became my right hand lady. Maddox, Tyson and Haley’s son, stole the show more than a few times…oh my word he is the absolute cutest!! And let’s not overlook Mr. Mills in his dapper bowtie and hat!

Haley did a beautiful job planning out all the details, creating the decorations and even making all of the cupcakes. (Whaaat?!) Since she used to work at Stoneleigh Golf and Country Club she knew all the ins and outs including where to get the golf carts and the best places for photos at Hole 2. She is amazing!

All in all, it was a joyful gorgeous day and I was so honored to be there to witness this lovely couple share their love in front of family and friends. Tyson and Haley, I couldn’t be happier for you and your beautiful family. Thank you for the privilege of knowing you and capturing this special moment. XO

Jason + Grace | Maryland Wedding Photography

Jason and Grace are such a special couple. They both love the Lord and are committed to serving Him and loving others. They have big smiles and even bigger hearts and I love how God brought them together.

The day of their early June wedding was beautiful – sunny, with big puffy clouds and a lovely (if sometimes strong) breeze. The ceremony was held in Baker Park in Frederick in front of the iconic willow tree. It was a family affair with Grace’s dad performing the ceremony, her sister singing, and her brother-in-law reading a Scripture. Grace comes from a family of 6 daughters and a little brother so her 5 beautiful bridesmaids were her sisters and her brother escorted her mom. Jason does not have siblings but he was surrounded by friends-turned-brothers, partners in dance crime (ha ha) and mentors. The whole tone of the ceremony was so sweet, tender, funny, emotional and joyful. You learn things about people during their wedding from what others share.  What I heard confirmed what I already knew and suspected. Jason and Grace are perfect for each other. They are hand-picked by God to complement and strengthen one another and live a joyful life of love and service.

At the reception they danced, laughed and enjoyed being with their friends and family. Jason asked if we could take some photos by the cross outside the church building as the sun was setting. Not long after they returned from their honeymoon, an apartment near them caught fire and the damage was such that Jason and Grace lost most of their things and were displaced for many days. What a way to start married life! But what I heard from Grace was not complaining, but thankfulness and trust in God. That’s just who they are.

So…all this to say, Jason and Grace’s wedding was so beautiful. Grace looked absolutely gorgeous (I am in love with her dress!), Jason’s smile couldn’t have been bigger and it was truly an honor to witness them share their vows and start this journey together. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Whitham for having me! I pray you continue to be blessed as you bless others. XO

Matt + Lauren | Westminster Engagement Photography

Freshman year, eight years ago, McDaniel College, same dorm…..That’s how Matt and Lauren met. A classic college romance that has stood the test of time and now these two will be getting married this September. I love it! I met up with Matt and Lauren back on campus for their engagement photos. They hadn’t been there for a few years (I mean who really wants to go back once you’ve graduated and paid your dues, right?). But I think it turned out to be a fun walk down memory lane plus it was a beautiful campus on a gorgeous evening. And they were pretty much adorable the whole time. Lauren has such a great laugh and they both were very comfortable just being themselves.  I enjoyed getting to know them better as we explored. Lauren is a high school English teacher and I’m pretty sure she rocks at her job and Matt has just transitioned to a new job because…why not? We had a great time and I love how their photos turned out. Can’t wait for the wedding this September!

Kyle + Sami | Maryland Wedding Photography

May 20, 2016 was a great day…it was Kyle and Sami’s wedding day! Thinking back over the event, the one word that stands out to me is FAMILY. Kyle and Sami had told me how close they were to both sides of their families and how important it was to have all of their family there celebrating with them when they got married. Even though technically I am not a guest or family member, sometimes I come away from a wedding feeling like I am and this was one of those times. Everyone was so accommodating, thankful and encouraging – checking on me and Ruthie, my awesome assistant, making sure we had what we needed, offering to move things out of the way, checking to see if we had drinks or food and doing whatever they could to make our job easier. I felt kind of spoiled.

As far as the real family…everyone was SO happy for Kyle and Sami and it was truly a uniting of two families who know and love each other. Kyle and Sami have been together for 10 years and it showed in their families’ relationships. It was very special.

The wedding day itself went so smoothly. Sami had everything planned perfectly down to the last detail including monogramed shirts for all her bridesmaids, sweet little coloring books for the kids at the reception and a coffee bar to go with the adorable yummy cupcakes for dessert. Sami’s dress was simple and oh so elegant, Kyle looked handsome in gray and a bow-tie, the church was beautiful, the flower girl and ring bearer were so adorable and the venue, Walker’s Overlook was the perfect backdrop on a cool spring day.

I had such a wonderful time capturing these memories for Kyle and Sami. It was one of those weddings when I left knowing that they have all the love and support they will need in their new life together and it was a good feeling.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Carter for welcoming me, trusting me and giving me the privilege of being at your wedding. I wish you ALL the best in the days and years to come.  XO
