Josiah + Maggie || Pennsylvania Wedding Photography

This wedding was extra special because the bride, Maggie is the niece of dear friends of mine. I have heard of Maggie and her family (“the Hirschbergs”) for years through my friends and finally I got to meet all of them….all because two people fell in love. Cue Josiah Zoulaf…or Zuu as he is called. Maggie and Josiah met in their youth group where Josiah was one of the most popular kids (according to Maggie) and he happened to be close friends with one of her brothers. So he was always at the house hanging out. I think pretty soon his hanging out was more about being around Maggie than her brother. Young love followed and then an engagement and now here they were on a hot and stormy day in late June pledging their love through tears and laughter.

Maggie did an amazing job planning her day down to the last details. Everything had a beautiful summery boho vibe which I loved! With 90+ degree temps, storms in the forecast and a huge bridal party it could have been a very stressful day! On the contrary, everyone was super relaxed, things went as planned and the wedding party was super cooperative (which always makes my job so much easier and way more fun). Personally I loved the dark and moody skies which made the portraits pop. The gorgeous flowers by Sharon Zimmerman were stunning against the shades of blue that the bridesmaids wore. Maggie looked absolutely gorgeous and Josiah was looking pretty dapper himself! They are such a photogenic couple! After dinner and dancing the guests sent Joe and Maggie off with sparklers. Almost immediately after they left the clouds broke loose with a terrific storm signaling an end to the festivities and a perfect day.

It was all so wonderful  and I am so honored to have been a part. I loved meeting all of Maggie’s family and celebrating with them. They are such a fun and loving group! Josiah and Maggie, thank you for inviting me to capture this special day for you. I wish you all the best in the world as you continue your journey together! XO

Daniel + Catherine | Maryland Wedding Photographer | Dulany’s Overlook

This past November (almost a year ago!), the weekend after Thanksgiving, my family and I were at a local tree farm to cut our Christmas tree. As we made our way in, we passed the Hoover family, on their way out. I have know the Hoovers almost my whole life and have connections with them on many levels – most recently my oldest daughter Ellie works with Catherine at a local orchard farm. Catherine was excited to tell Ellie that she had just gotten engaged and she introduced us to Daniel, her new fiancé. They were clearly over the moon!

A few weeks later, I received an email from Catherine and Daniel inquiring about wedding photography. We got together at a cozy coffee shop and they proceeded to tell me the story of how they met at a party and spent the whole night talking and how they stalked each other on social media for a bit (quite cleverly  I might add) until finally Daniel asked Catherine to be his girlfriend. It’s a long, romantic story and they are great story tellers – it was a match made in heaven! I was hooked and just hoped they would pick me to be their photographer. And they did!!

Fast forward to a warm spring day – May 19 – and I was so honored to be at the lovely Dulany’s Overlook  capturing all of the joy and excitement of this highly anticipated day. Catherine was surrounded by an amazing team of people helping turn her dreams into reality. From her gorgeous hair and make up styling to the stunning flowers, the amazing venue, beautiful music, delicious cocktail hour….it all came together so perfectly. And what I especially love is that almost every vendor or helper at the wedding were long time friends of Catherine and her family.

You will not find two people more excited or happy to be married! Daniel and Cat could not keep the smiles of delight off of their faces. They kept looking at each other like “I can’t believe this is really happening!!” It was also so special to hear Cat’s father as he handed his daughter’s hand over to Daniel – he expressed so much thankfulness, joy and trust. There were some tears throughout the day, but mostly just unbridled joy. As these two left amidst a haze of sparklers…off on their honeymoon to Italy (so fitting and romantic), I had no doubt that this was the beginning of something very beautiful indeed. Daniel and Catherine, THANK YOU for the privilege of being the one to capture these precious moments for you.

James + Kristine || Frederick, MD Wedding Photographer

A wedding is beautiful any time of the year but there’s something special about a wedding at Christmas time! James and Kristine’s ceremony took place the week after Christmas in 2018 at the beautiful St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in historic downtown Frederick. It was a glorious early winter day with plenty of sunshine and not too cold. Since Kristine’s mom Annette is a wonderful photographer herself (she has worked with me on many of my weddings and does an amazing job!) I was only there to capture the ceremony and some portraits afterwards. Annette took care of the rest of the day even though she was mother of the bride!! Amazing! Anyway, it was very special to be there to witness James and Kristine’s vows and their obvious love for each other –  especially being friends with Kristine and her mom (and other sisters! – I shot her sister Beth’s wedding that August). I was honored to have been invited. Kristine was a stunning bride and the wintery colors complimented her dark haired beauty so well! She surprised James with a vintage car to drive them to the reception which also made for some adorable photos!

Thank you James and Kristine for allowing me to be part of your beautiful wedding! You are a lovely couple and I with you peace and joy in the days, weeks and years to come! XO

Matthew + Danielle | Virginia Wedding Photography

I met Matt and Danielle at Tyson and Haley’s wedding  back in October 2017 where they were part of the bridal party. I was so honored when Danielle asked me to be her wedding photographer a few months later! When one JEP bride refers another to me it means so much because it shows that they trust me enough to recommend me. Plus, all of my couples are awesome and they have awesome friends so I know I’m being referred to great folks! So it”s a win-win! All that to say, I was super excited to be part of Matt and Danielle’s special day.

October 27, 2018  was looking to be a chilly and potentially rainy day. But Danielle, who is a super positive and cheerful person, kept her spirits high and Brandon,at Faithbrooke Barn & Vineyards, was prepared to run things smoothly inside or out. With umbrellas on hand and cute warm blankets ready for the guests, things proceeded as planned. The florals from Flowers by Bunny were beautiful on the arbour outside with the misty mountain ranges and vineyard in the background. While Matt and the groomsmen hung out at The Manor House in town, Becca and Maria finished making the girls look gorgeous with their hair and make up. As guests started to arrive, the rain held off and the ceremony began without a hitch. Danielle looked absolutely stunning and Matt couldn’t take his eyes off her. After a very touching and sweet ceremony, the bridal party headed into the vineyards for portraits while the guests enjoyed cocktails on the patio. Such a good looking group of people!! Matt and Danielle are so perfect for each other and their love for each other is so joyful and contagious. I LOVE the moments I was able to capture with the two of them. The evening ended with delicious wood-fired pizzas by  Blue Ridge Pizza Company, desserts by Bijou’s Sweet Treats and partying and dancing courtesy of DJ Paul Entertainment. All in all, I don’t think the day could have been more perfect.

Matt and Danielle, you are the best! I am so thankful and honored to have been part of your beautiful day. I am so happy for you and wish you all the best together and in your future. XO

Matthew + Rachel | Maryland Wedding Photography

Well Matthew and Rachel’s June wedding really could not have been more perfect. A little heat is better than rain and it was summer after all! Springfield Manor is such a gorgeous venue with lavender fields, a beautiful house and reception room, an elegant outdoor fountain, a peaceful front porch, perfect landscaping and a lovely arbor and outdoor ceremony space. When I arrived, Rachel was as calm as could be, enjoying her last few hours of being single with her closest friends. Her hair and make up were perfection thanks to Kimberly Grubbs and once she had her dress on – wow! She was stunning! Matthew couldn’t keep his eyes off her when she walked down the aisle on the arm of her proud father.

After a very touching and sweet ceremony performed by Ed Choy, we headed to the lavender fields with the bridal party for photos. I am in love with how they turned out. Everyone looked amazing and so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs. Lyons. The evening was perfect with guests enjoying cocktails on the venue grounds followed by a delicious dinner and ending with dancing accompanied by AJDJ Entertainment Services- these guests knew how to party! It was so much fun.

Having gotten to know Matthew and Rachel over the past year and a half, it was such an honor to be there to capture these timeless moments for them. They are such special people on their own but together they are an amazing couple. They are thoughtful, kind, grateful, caring and just fun to be around. I loved being there to celebrate with them.

Matthew and Rachel – I am so thrilled for you and wish you all the happiness you deserve!! XO
