Nate + Jess | Frederick Wedding Photography

I have been sitting here trying to figure out the best way to write about Nate and Jess’ wedding but it’s difficult because there are so many things I could say and angles I could take. Whether it’s the fact that I have watched Jess grow up since she was a little girl  or that her parents are dear friends of ours or that Nate and Jess are high school sweethearts or how Jess’ mom and aunt put together all of the amazing flowers or how Jess planned surprises for both her parents during her wedding day or how Nate was so emotional when he saw Jess walking down the aisle or how Jess’ little brother (little) Nate told her she looked beautiful or how gorgeous the venue was or how it almost stormed but it didn’t….I could go on and on! This wedding had all the feels.

Jess planned her wedding while completing her nursing degree which is no small feat and it all came together so wonderfully. ThorpeWood was the perfect setting for the day with it’s charming lodge, pristine grounds and the peaceful and majestic outdoor chapel in the forest. Jess looked absolutely stunning as did all of her bridesmaids in their lovely wine colored dresses. Nate and the guys held their own with their floral ties and suspenders. As previously mentioned, the gorgeous flowers, centerpieces and signs were put together by Jess’ talented mom, aunt and other family members.  They fit the natural aesthetic of the venue perfectly. Following the beautiful and emotional ceremony officiated by Jess’ uncle, Julie from ThorpWood drove us around on a golf cart for photos and we were able to take advantage of the stunning grounds including some photos with an adorable little Icelandic horse! After a delicious dinner, the evening continued with some crazy fun dancing until Nate and Jess drove off into the night in Nate’s huge truck to the sound of cheers and well wishes from their closest friends and family. Guests took home Krispy Kreme donuts as a favor.

It was truly an honor to be part of this wedding. I couldn’t be happier for Nate, Jess and their families. Of course knowing them all personally made it extra special and it was so neat to witness it all through the lens (there may have been a tear or two shed behind the camera).  Nate and Jess, thank you for trusting me with the privilege of capturing your beautiful day! I loved every minute and wish you both all the happiness in the world as you continue on your journey together as husband and wife. XO

Langston | Lifestyle Newborn Photography

When Drew got a call from a social worker friend this past autumn that a baby boy was about to be born and a family was needed to adopt him, he wasn’t initially thinking that it might be HIS family. Drew and his wife Mel had just adopted their first born, Maddox, in May so they were still very much in the baby stage. But as they talked about it, God very quickly opened their hearts to this new baby and they called back to tell the social worker that they had found a family…theirs! Things happened very fast and before they  knew it they were leaving 8 month old Maddox with his grandparents and flying to Kansas to meet baby boy #2. He was born hearty and hale (and so squishy) and they christened him Langston (Drew says inspired by the African Amercian poet Langston Hughes). He’s perfect.

I was so honored to be able to capture these precious moments for this sweet family that God has lovingly brought together in His perfect time. Seeing these adorable boys together and marveling at how God has provided both for them and their awesome parents was such a joy. Adoption is such a beautiful thing and while Drew and Mel  have their hands full with two babies instead of one, I know they clearly wouldn’t have it any other way. So much love! Thank you guys for inviting me in to your miracle! Can’t wait to watch these two grow up together.

When I put the word out on Facebook that I would be at the beach and was available for sessions, I immediately got a response from Jessie. She was SO excited because the beach is her favorite place to be with her family and she had always wanted a photo session there. I was so happy that timing worked out and that I was able to meet this sweet, adorable family. Jordyn and Devyn are such beautiful girls and I loved how they doted on Griffin, who was quite the little ham once he warmed up. You can tell he is well taken care of! Sooo cute. It was a perfect beach evening with a wonderful family and I loved it. Thank you Jessie for sending me that message. I am honored to have met you and your lovelies and hope our paths cross again soon!

It’s always a pleasure to work with Ed and Amy and their sweet kiddos. I just love this family. The boys are growing up to be respectful, loving, helpful little men. They were so precious – complimenting me and wanting to help carry things for me and giving me hugs. It was SO CUTE! Baby A is the adorable princess in the family that everyone is smitten with and it’s not hard to see why. She has the cutest smile and I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to hold her own with those boys. Ed and Amy are celebrating their 7th anniversary this month and I hope they can see what a beautiful heritage they have already in their sweet little family.

Wow, what a beautiful family Jim and Cindy have! Their lovely daughter Megan contacted me in December about giving a Family Lifestyle Session as a gift to her mom for Christmas from her and her siblings, Taylor and Michelle. This is the second time I’ve had the kids in the family give a session as a gift to their mom and I think it is so sweet. They said the last time they had family pictures was when they were all little and it was at JC Penney’s or something like that. (I think all of our moms have those photos in our scrapbooks somewhere! – no offense to JCP)

Anyway, I was really looking forward to meeting the Krenzke’s and they didn’t disappoint. Early spring is tricky with the weather and the day of our shoot was super windy and chilly but the sun was shining and they all did a great job “thinking warm thoughts”. I loved how these photos turned out! Everyone looks so great (they are so photogenic) and Molly, the much loved black lab, added a very cute element to the moment. She is part of the fam, after all! It was a great session and I am so blessed to have met this wonderful family.
