Chris + Caitlin | Frederick Engagement Photography

It was a joy to meet Chris and Caiti at their engagement session in Baker Park and historic downtown Frederick. Sometimes the engagement session is the first time I have met a couple in person and it’s a great opportunity for us to get to know each other and work together before the wedding. I found Chris and Cait to be super easy to be around, very relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. Like many couples these days, Chris and Caiti met online and quickly hit it off. They joked that Chris wasn’t quite truthful when he listed his height as 5’10” on his profile (he’s really just under) which was Caiti’s minimum (since she is 5’9″). But his charm worked and Cait was more than willing to overlook the slight discrepancy. It didn’t take long for them to fall for each other.  These two are so cute together – she’s an elementary school teacher and he’s an up an coming lawyer- young and in love and full of dreams for their future….I loved soaking up some of that vibe. I can’t wait for their wedding in July!

Matt + Carrie | Virginia Engagement Photography

Matt and Carrie have know each other for a long time….so long that they can’t really remember the first time they met.  They’ve been together as a couple for 9 years and now they are less than a month away from finally getting married. As Carrie said – the best thing about being engaged is “getting more and more excited to marry my best friend every day!”. For our photo shoot they were so comfortable and natural – they made my job so easy. You can tell they belong together….and even though they have been together forever, it is clear that they are head over heels in love.  I was so excited to meet them and get to know them a little bit and can’t wait to celebrate with them next month!

Jon + Ana | Engaged | Maryland Wedding Photography

Jon couldn’t keep his eyes of Ana during their engagement session. It’s not hard to see why. She is beautiful, joyful and spunky. Perfect for him! They got engaged on Christmas Eve and their wedding is March 11 – these lovebirds aren’t wasting any time in starting the rest of their lives together. Jon has been working hard to learn Spanish, dance the Salsa and to appreciate the more laid back Latin culture (like dinner might be at 8 pm instead of 5:30). Ana never though she’d marry a white guy, but it turns out that Jon is everything she’s dreamed of. They work hard at their relationship and take seriously the commitment they are about to make despite coming from very different backgrounds. God has brought them together and it is a beautiful testimony. I am so excited to be part of their big day and can’t wait to celebrate with them!

Jason + Grace | Engaged | Maryland Wedding Photography

Jason and Grace met online, and after a month of Skyping they met in person for their first date last December. There Jason asked Grace to be his girlfriend during a sunset picnic in the back of his pick-up truck. They ended the magical evening by looking at Christmas lights. Sounds pretty romantic, right?! Less than a year later they got engaged and now they can’t wait to be married in a few months.

I met Grace and Jason for the first time at their engagement session. Jason is from Tennessee and Grace was living in Virginia where she worked as a post-partum nurse, but they were in Frederick, MD for the weekend to visit family and nail down some wedding plans. I knew I was in for a treat when, before we started off, Jason asked if he could take a moment to pray for our time. That was a first for me and I loved it! So very thoughtful and what better way to start a photo session than that. With that I caught a glimpse of the kind of guy he is…Grace, I think you picked a winner! She clearly agrees. 🙂

We had a great time. The weather for late January was pretty perfect and while they protested that they were not natural in front of a camera, they fell into it like old pros. I felt like I was hanging out with old friends. As the sun fell and the light turned golden we got some beautiful shots that capture their personality together. They are such a sweet, fun-loving couple and I can’t wait for their wedding this summer!

Francis + Julia | DC/Virginia Wedding Photography

Life is a journey and sometimes it’s not clear where it’s taking you. But then something happens and it all makes sense and things fall into place just as they were meant to be all along. Francis and Julia met online in the fall of 2015. Their life paths had taken them far and wide; 10 years in Italy for Julia and 4 years in Russia for Francis and I’m sure many life lessons along the way. But in  the fall of 2015 they were both ready to open a new chapter. And as Providence would have it, they found each other! In the vein of the classic old black and white movies that Francis loves, they corresponded and got to know each other virtually for months before they finally met in person, late in February of 2016. (February 27, to be exact, according to Francis). Come to find out they actually lived only 2 blocks from each other in DC!

Meeting in person confirmed what they were both thinking and feeling and pretty soon they started talking about getting engaged. That happened in July and then came the whirlwind of wedding planning. They chose one of the last days of 2016 to say their vows and celebrate their new life together. Their Ukranian Catholic ceremony was lovely and elegant, a treat for those not in the Ukranian Catholic tradition. Though it was very brisk outside we had a great time driving around DC for some portraits which included a brief snow flurry,  a very enthusiastic college basketball team and a beautiful sunset. The cozy intimate reception at the Mount Vernon Inn was exquisite…complete with a surprise visit from some carolers dressed in period costume, warm cider, beautiful Christmas decorations and lots of laughter.

Having only met Francis and Julia in person the day of their wedding, I loved hearing what their best man and maid of honor had to share about them. They confirmed that this lovely couple’s life together will be a romantic adventure. Not because they are thrill seekers, but because they live life to the fullest. And what better way to do that than with the love of your life by your side!

Francis and Julia, I am so happy for you both and wish you all the happiness in the world. Thank you for allowing me to capture these moments in your journey. XO
